In a few weeks President Obama will decide whether to go ahead with the Keystone XL pipeline. TransCanada wants to build a pipeline that would carry oil sands crude oil from western Canada (Alberta) across the central part of the U.S. to refineries in Texas and Louisiana. The proposal is controversial with environmentalists raising concerns about furthering dependence on oil, increasing greenhouse gas emissions and harming the aquifer.
