Walmart is proposing a new store on Hillsborough Avenue, in Seminole Heights. But at Thursday’s Tampa City Council meeting a half a dozen residents, community organizers and business owners spoke against it, saying they have not been included in the decision-making process. Thursday morning Tampa City Council unanimously approved a brownfield designation for the site where WalMart plans to build a big-box store in Seminole Heights.

That will give the retail giant tax breaks for building on the Hillsborough Avenue site of a former auto dealership.
