The Florida Senate is still considering whether to remove a guaranteed retirement benefit from future state employees. Instead, the bill heard Wednesday would force employees who don’t choose the benefit plan into a risky 401k-type retirement fund. Senators are expected to vote on the bill this afternoon. It’s getting push back from many Democrats, including panhandle Senator Bill Montford.
