Migrant farmers join forces with social justice advocates to demand fair wages and treatment of migrant workers. Saturday evening people protested along the sidewalk in front of a North Tampa Publix. The demonstration coincided with the national theatrical release of the documentary Food Chains. The protesters chanted and waived signs until put them down to go to the documentary screening.

TAMPA - On Friday morning, Governor Rick Scott made a campaign stop in New Tampa. As part of a state-wide tour, the Republican is encouraging voters to cast their ballots early.

Though,it was not just supporters who showed up at the strip mall parking lot. Outside La Cubanita Café, around 30 supporters marched and chanted anti-Scott slogans. Many condemned Scott for reported ties to big business.

USF students are planning a protest Thursday night against shorter library hours.

But instead of a traditional “sit-in,” the activists are staging a “sit-out” outside the shuttered library where they used to do late night studying on the Tampa campus.

WMNF News spoke with Larry Roop, a 1st year student majoring in nursing and with another organizer, Melissa Garzon, a 2nd year student majoring in sociology.

As part of a series of nationwide protests, over one hundred concerned citizens lined the east and westbound lanes of Columbus Drive, outside of the Tampa IRS building this afternoon. Local conservative organizations stood with signs and megaphones calling on the federal government to hold the IRS accountable.
