Tuesday Mark Kirk of Illinois became the latest Republican U.S. Senator to come out in support of same-sex marriage; but Florida Democrat Bill Nelson is holding firmly to his opposition of gay marriage.
This afternoon, activists led by the LGBT equality group Equality Florida, used online activism to try to get Senator Nelson to change his mind.

The St. Petersburg Dali Museum’s first social media night, Get Surreal, kicked off on Thursday August 11. Museum officials presented the art collection and its building to the social media scene and because of this new communication approach, the turnout was a success.

The web analytics firm Compete is reporting that U.S. traffic to the social networking site Facebook has increased nearly 8 percent in the past month; more than 113 million people in the U.S. have interacted on the site.
The data also shows that MySpace continued to drop in popularity, while the media sensation Twitter’s growth has flattened. Facebook’s popularity led a University of Tampa instructor to conduct an analysis of its users, keying in on the privacy, or lack thereof.
