The mission of the American Diabetes Association is to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. Access to information is an important part of the fight against diabetes. Animal Based Charities provides adoption venues for animal rescue groups at no charge. We also provide free food, bedding, and accessories to the groups. To date we have given away over 26,000 pounds of food and helped find homes for over 1200 animals. We are proud to provide this service to the hard working rescue groups. We now have a Thrift Store to help in funding adoption events. ABC is staffed solely by volunteers and is a recognized 501c3 (not for profit).

Mission Statement: To develop, nurture, coordinate and promote performing, literary and visual arts in Hillsborough County, and to contract for artistic services all for the enjoyment, education, cultural enrichment and benefit of the citizens of Hillsborough County. The Council is the designated funding source for cultural services and is governed by a 15-member board of directors appointed by the County Commissioners. The Council has no membership, but does have a cultural alliance of leaders of arts organizations and artists to derive a common community-wide agenda and to provide a base for arts advocacy. The Council is divided into two divisions: Arts in Education and Program Services (see website for list of services).
A Tampa-based non-profit organization which raises awareness and funding to combat pediatric solid mass cancers. Ezra Matthews, son of the organizationâs founders Kyle and Robyn, was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma in October 2009 and November 8, 2010, Ezra passed on. His parents now fight so that the thousands of kids who live with this cancer under a 30% survival rate stand a fighting chance.
A non-profit organization that provides mentors for at-risk children in the community. Volunteers are encouraged to spend just a few hours a month mentoring a child doing things they both enjoy: going to the park, baking cookies, helping with homework, or just hanging out. We also launched a new program called 'Sports Buddies'. Big Brothers have the opportunity to spend time with their Little Brother participating in sports together and also enjoying free tickets to various professional sporting events in the Tampa Bay community. The mission of Buddy Cruise is to provide educational opportunities and resources for families, while promoting awareness, acceptance, inclusion and advancement for individuals with Down syndrome. Our events are a forum for prominent educational speakers to address a wide range of Down syndrome and disability related topics.
Buddy Cruise is unique because we not only give families the opportunity to gain information through educational workshops & events, but they are able to network with other families from across the globe that are in similar situations and form lasting bonds. All of this is done on a cruise ship allowing for inclusive opportunities throughout the ship and in the various ports of call. Families who otherwise have a very hard time finding a scenario to meet all family membersâ needs are accommodated with a variety of activities for all ages and abilities.

Located in Ruskin, on the Little Manatee River, this 160-acre Hillsborough County preserve packs a variety of Florida habitats into a small space, plus offers a Nature Center, Fossil Museum, Native Peoples Camp, butterfly habitat, native plant gardens and nursery, canoe launch, and trails through pine flatwoods, hardwood hammock and swamp. It is home to a healthy gopher tortoise population, plus an abundance of other interesting plants and wildlife.

The Center for Autism & Related Disabilities at USF is a community based program, funded by the Florida Department of Education through an annual grant, that provides information and consultation to individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders and related disabilities. CARD-USF offers instruction and coaching to families and professionals through a training and assistance model. Services are delivered wherever families, professionals, schools, agencies or businesses are located within our 14 county region of southwest Florida.
