3. The Cramps
4. Gang of Four
5. Brian Eno

Pre-Dawn Alternatives - Brigid Ochshorn
1. Compilation-Everything is a Theory (Cephia’s Treat Recordings)
Locally produced & released comp featuring tracks from innovative noisemakers and roof-raisers nationwide.
2. M.I.A. - Kala (XL, Interscope Records)
Really makes you want to dance, roller-skate, sing along, or do anything cool for that matter. An all-seasons classic.
3. Talib Kweli - Eardrum (Warner Brothers Records)
Fantastic, beat-tiful, romantic… and who cares if he’s on a major label? The man is still a genius.
4. Bill Callahan- Woke on a Whaleheart (Drag City Records)
The illusive and forever mysterious (Smog) man returns to prove us that he still loves us, and that he is still one of the most intelligent, self-deprecating songwriters ever to grace the plains of the US of A.
5. Mum- Go Go Smear The Poison Ivy (FatCat Records)
Thank god for Mum. If there is a god. If not, Thank Mum for this amazing orchestral creation. I wish I could thank them in Icelandic.
6. Stereo Total- Paris-Berlin (Kill Rock Stars)
These two can do no wrong. In fact, they get more awesome annually, bringing all the freshness of killer garage rock, and of course, sexy lyrics in French, English, and German. What more can a music nerd ask for?
7.Compilation- Roundhouse Compilation Disc 1 (WMNF benefit CD)
If you’re in the know, you know this was a good one. And for a good cause, too!
8. Breatheasy & Then and Than- Time is Power/Our Time is Now (Cheapo Records)
Local artists Breatheasy and Then and Than combine their forces to produce this hypnotic, mind erasing split. Just add water and it will take over your stereo, but you’ll be thankful for it.
9. Parts and Pieces of Past Ticiples- Sounds that Sounded Like Sounds that Were Sounding Like (Stay Away From Ghosts Records)
First full-length from Parts and Pieces of Past Ticiples. Not only do they take the cake for best band name, they also recorded and released this super fine album, played tons of killer live shows in ’07, and recorded many more gems to be released soon. Keep an ear out for ‘em.
10. The Black Lips-Good Bad Not Evil (Vice Records)
I tried to resist this record for months, and one day it finally got through to me. I’ve had trouble putting it back in it’s case ever since. Maybe the only band as of late who can rip off the Velvet Underground and get away with it. These Georgia rockers sure know how to tear it down.
