Award-Winning Animal Photographer on Talking Animals
My guest on Talking Animals Feb. 5 will be Jo-Anne McArthur, an award-winning photographer who’s just published her first book, We Animals.
A photojournalist whose passion as an animal activist has informed her work, McArthur has spent a decade traveling the globe documenting the lives of captive, abused and other animals in a wide array of settings.
In an instance of another woman with a camera documenting the document-er, McArthur and her work is the focus of The Ghosts In Our Machine, a new feature-length documentary film by director Liz Marshall.
McArthur’s ongoing photography project, as captured in We Animals, has served numerous organizations, including The Farm Sanctuary, the Jane Goodall Institute and Sea Shepherd in a number of ways, including assisting with campaigns and investigations.
She’s been accorded multiple awards, including co-recipient (with Liz Marshall) of the 2013 Compassion for Animals Award in Toronto and HuffPost Women’s Top 10 Women Trying To Change The World, and her work has been praised by Jane Goodall and actor James Cromwell, among many others.
I will speak live with Jo-Anne McArthur on Talking Animals on Feb. 5 at 9am ET.
