Comedian Paula Poundstone on "Talking Animals" Sept. 26

My guest on "Talking Animals" Sept. 26 will be veteran comedian PAULA POUNDSTONE, perhaps best known these days as a regular panelist on NPR’s popular weekly news quiz show, “Wait, Wait…Don’t Tell Me!”
This return visit to “Talking Animals” is in anticipation of Poundstone’s Tampa performance Oct. 6 at the Straz Center For the Performing Arts’ Ferguson Hall. (I have three pair of tickets to this show, available right now for a pledge in support of “Talking Animals”/WMNF before the radio station’s fall fund drive.)
This appearance at the Straz will underscore that Paula Poundstone is the singular comedian with a wonderful sense of whimsy who for much of her 30+ year career has laced her routines with cat tales, often based on observations and misadventures with the sizable flock of felines sharing her home.
Indeed, her first one-hour HBO special, in 1990, was entitled "Cats, Cops, and Stuff," while in 2007, her special for the Bravo network was called "Paula Poundstone: Look What the Cat Dragged In."
In between, and since, she's made countless TV appearances, written a book, "There's Nothing In This Book That I Meant To Say" and recorded a CD, "I Heart Jokes."
Paula Poundstone will speak with us live on "Talking Animals" on Sept. 26 at 11am, and listeners are invited to participate in the conversation by calling (813-239-9663) or e-mailing (DJ@wmnf.org).
