On the Nov. 12 edition of the Wednesday Sonic Detour--probably in the second hour, sometime after 5:15pm--we'll be airing an interview (recorded Monday) with Eels singer-songwriter Mark Oliver Everett, aka E.
A cult band housing a truly major talent, the Eels now operates as a shifting collective of musicians E chooses to record that album with or play with on that tour, having released a string of revered albums over a dozen years (preceded by E albums in '92 & '93)--and ardent fans include Pete Townshend and Tom Waits.
It's a particularly interesting time in E's world: "Parallel Worlds, Parallel Lives," the award-winning documentary film about E investigating the pioneering work of his late father, Hugh Everett III, a quantum physicist now considered a genius, aired in October on PBS' "Nova"...his fantastic, acclaimed memoir, "Things The Grandchildren Should Know" was published in the U.S. in mid-October...the Eels recently released a deluxe vinyl version of "Blinking Lights And Other Revelations" as four-LP set... etc.
