JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for providing leadership, direction, oversight, and planning of all day-to-day WMNF station operations including budget, reports, programming and resource development. The Station Manager is responsible for creating a stimulating and challenging environment for the staff and volunteers, ensuring FCC, CPB and other applicable regulations are followed, as well as station policies and procedures. The Station Manager provides vision and leadership to utilize the station’s resources, including people, programming, physical plant and technology to advance the station’s mission and goals. Responsible for representing WMNF in the community and speaking publicly on behalf of the station. Job responsibilities are listed below; other responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

DUTIES

• Prepare and present annual budget to NBS Board of Directors.
• Ensure that all applicable state, federal and similar reports, license requests and renewals are submitted accurately and in a timely manner.
• Ensure that proper broadcast procedures and policies are followed.
• Foster development and utilization of staff and volunteers.
• Report to, seek guidance from and provide support to NBS Board of Directors.
• Assist with on-air and off-air fundraising activities and station special events.
• Provide leadership for station development initiatives.
• Direct and monitor station legal, fiscal and human resources procedures.
• Conduct annual performance evaluations for staff positions reporting directly to the Station Manager.
• Monitor and approve annual evaluations of all other personnel.
• Responsible for filling staff positions.
• Serve on all station committees.

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Exceptional interpersonal, management and communication skills and leadership ability.
• Work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community to grow station listenership.

QUALIFICATIONS

• B.A., or 5+ years equivalent management and supervisory experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of contracts, grant maintenance and management.
• Demonstrated skill in budget preparation and fiscal management.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise employees.
• Prefer knowledge of FCC, CPB and IRS regulations, guidelines and standards.
• Prefer knowledge and understanding of the principles and procedures of operating a community/public radio station.
• Prefer familiarity with the Internet, HD, and emerging technologies.
• Prefer experience in public or community radio.
