WMNF is a fiercely independent, non-commercial, community radio station and mission-driven media organization covering the greater Tampa Bay area in Florida. Providing impact above our wattage weight, WMNF ranks in the top 20 of the 17th largest media market in the USA and rising. We cover a wide range of musical genres and broad perspectives of news and public affairs. We are a community station; therefore, local volunteers produce almost all programming. We use some NPR and Pacifica programming.

As our organization rises in the media market, we find we need a full time Manager of Communications, Marketing, and Promotion. This person will have a range of roles at WMNF including:

  • Advance the mission of the station through marketing and promotional plans (https://www.wmnf.org/about-wmnf/)
  • Develop and implement a mar-com calendar in conjunction with various subcontractors, staff, and volunteers
  • Oversee the messaging and content that makes up the public face and electronic image of WMNF
  • Works with other station departments (music, news & public affairs, and operations) to coordinate on-air messaging for community partners

Minimum experience requirements include exemplary writing and editorial skills (English mandatory, Spanish would be helpful) as demonstrated in a portfolio of work, works well on a team, comfortable with a variety of technologies, project management, is an energetic and creative self-starter who is not afraid to think outside the box while understanding the latest marketing strategies. While others do the heavy lift for these tasks, the Communications Manager must be proficient in web and graphic design, social media marketing, and have a strong understanding of UX and UI. Experience working with other non-profit or social justice organizations, even as a volunteer, is helpful but not required.

All WMNF positions provide a very generous benefits package including 100% medical insurance (with small additional fee to opt into dental and eye care) and 403b match.

We find that people who already share our values are most satisfied working here. All applications must include a cover letter that details the experiences you have that qualify you for this position and why you specifically are applying for the position at WMNF, as two separate topics. Send a resume and cover letter to [email protected] to be considered for this position.

Salary range is $48,000 – $62,000 annual salary.
