JOB SUMMARY:

In partnership with the General Manager and the Board’s Finance and Audit Committee, this position provides direction for all the station administrative, strategic and financial operations. Responsibilities include day to day planning, managing, implementing and controlling all administrative and financial activities including budget and compliance. They are responsible for supervising all facets of the station’s Business Administration and Human Resources.

The position requires strong ethical behavior in all business practices, and requires regular contact and coordination with the Board, Auditor, community partners, staff, volunteers and the general public. Listed below are the main responsibilities of the job, other responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Works with the General Manager to develop concepts and business cases to gather Board and management support for capital allocation, partnership and acquisition opportunities
  • Manages the business and administrative services of WMNF
  • Manages payroll preparation, distribution, and all associated records
  • Develops and supervises the processing of all accounts payable and receivables
  • Manages financial records and makes timely deposits of required federal, state and local taxes.
  • Manages all proprietary and other information necessary for the preparation of all budgets and grant applications
  • Manages accounting, investments, contracts, agreements, restricted and un-restricted funds
  • Develops and manages procedures necessary to establish and maintain accurate and timely financial records
  • Monitors risk management policies and procedures to ensure organizational risk are minimized
  • Manages and recommends all options and current insurance policies including, but not limited to Health, Dental Liability, Workers Compensation, D&O Insurance and Special Events
  • Arranges periodic insurance audit, negotiates insurance packages and ensures that the station maintains adequate amounts of coverage
  • Develops, directs and scrutinizes Human Resources policies & procedures to ensure that the station is compliant with local, state and federal laws
  • Supervises the work of the Bookkeeper, Volunteer Coordinator, and assigned volunteers
  • Negotiates benefits packages, prepares information and communicates to employees regarding benefit programs and options
  • Conducts inquiries and advises management in resolution of employee relations issues
  • Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures and employee related programs
  • Manages Workers Compensation process, ensuring that claims are filed within 24 hours of injury
  • Investigates claims and prepares reports for insurance carriers
  • Responsible for processing all electronic funds transfers for all non-special events revenue
  • Coordinates annual performance evaluations for all staff
  • Scrutinizes all WMNF investments, contracts, agreements, restricted and unrestricted funds
  • Acts as the central point for non-technical guidance, problem solving assistance, and policy interpretation for WMNF staff
  • Reviews all requests for travel on behalf of WMNF, for proper expenditures and approvals according to policy
  • Works with Director of Development on all grants to ensure compliance and to provide budget information
  • Manages staff development, clarifies roles and responsibilities, communicates management expectations and performance standards; assists individuals and project teams to develop the necessary skills set and knowledge required to advance the strategic goals of WMNF
  • Works with General Manager, Board Chair and/or designated Board Members to coordinate Board/staff retreats and conferences
  • Acts as General Manager in his/her absence
  • Participate in WMNF membership drives and special events/projects as needed

Use of a computer, telephone and other office and/or broadcast equipment

Must be thoroughly familiar with the essentials of Human resource management including pertinent federal and state regulations

Ability to communicate effectively through a variety of methods

One year or more related experience and or training in Human Resource

Experience with grants and compliance

Experience in a deadline-driven environment; managing concurrent and competing priorities

Qualifications:

BS Degree in Accounting or Finance and administration preferred

Four years accounting, budgeting, or business management experience may be substituted for degree

Three years of management experience

Three years of experience in a not-for-profit business management environment required

Knowledge of GAAP (General Accepted Accounting Principles)

Ability to manipulate and analyze raw data using Excel and/or Quick-books required

Demonstrated experience working with high performance teams

Excellent analytical and organizational skills required

Salary Range: $58,000 – 76,705 annually
