Florida announces grants for rail and ports, like Port Tampa Bay and CSX in Plant City

Gov. Ron DeSantis on Friday announced nearly $18 million in grants for port, rail and other infrastructure-related projects.

The grants included $6.2 million for a terminal at Port Tampa Bay that can handle an additional 500,000 tons of limerock a year and $2.6 million for the Jacksonville Port Authority to increase rail capacity and storage at JAXPORT.

Another $3.9 million will go for a new CSX terminal in Plant City, and $3.7 million will go to Florida Gulf & Atlantic Railroad for a terminal in Lake City.

Capital Asphalt in Tallahassee is slated to get $1.5 million to build a new facility.
