A political committee leading efforts to pass a constitutional amendment on abortion rights raised $111,815 in cash from July 6 through July 12 and had nearly $16 million in cash on hand as of last week, according to a newly filed finance report.

The Floridians Protecting Freedom committee also spent $106,913 during the week-long period.

It had raised a total of $38.89 million since being formed in spring 2023 to try to pass what will appear as Amendment 4 on the November ballot, the report posted on the state Division of Elections website shows.

The committee also had received nearly $2.66 million in in-kind contributions as of last week.

The proposed constitutional amendment says, in part, that no “law shall prohibit, penalize, delay, or restrict abortion before viability or when necessary to protect the patient’s health, as determined by the patient’s healthcare provider.”
