The Florida Association of Realtors announced today that it will spend up to $1-million in support of the proposed constitutional amendment for "super" homestead exemptions.
It is the first significant sign of support of the amendment, which will come before voters in January.
If approved the amendment would give homeowners the choice of staying with the Save Our Homes 3 percent assessment cap or taking up to $195,000 off their homestead value for tax purposes.
Nancy Riley, president of the Florida Association of Realtors, said although hardly perfect, the proposed amendment would provide tax relief to many homeowners in the state.
