Dave Zirin writes about sports for the Nation magazine, and is the author of the new book, “Welcome to the Terrordome: The Pain, Politics, and Promise of Sports.”

In the first of a two-part interview, WMNF spoke with Zirin today about what USA Today is referring to as “Sports Crises of Credibility.” The article mentions the betting and game fixing probe in pro basketball; the NFL ordering Atlanta Falcon quarterback Michael Vick to stay away from training camp indefinitely after a federal indictment linked him to dogfighting; and the steroid allegations surrounding baseball superstar Barry Bonds, who is just a few home runs away from breaking one of sports' all time records.

We’ll hear more from Dave Zirin on Friday, when he addresses his thoughts on baseball slugger Barry Bonds.
