In April, Gov. Charlie Crist made national headlines when he persuaded the state Clemency Board to lower the barrier for ex-convicts seeking restoration of their civil rights.
During the campaign last year, Crist promised to automatically restore felonsâ€™ rights, but thatâ€™s not what happened.
The new rule allows for the nearly automatic restoration for most non-violent offenders. But thousands of others still need file paperwork to get their rights restored.
According to Democratic state Sen. Frederica Wilson, the list is even greater than that.
