In today’s editions of The New York Times, the paper endorsed Hillary Clinton in the Democratic race, and John McCain in the GOP contest.

In giving their support to McCain, which might actually hurt the Arizona Senator in the Primaries, given the low regard that some conservatives hold the Times in, the editorial said, “the choice was an easy one, with Mccain being the only Republican who promises to end the George Bush style of governing from and on behalf of a small, angry fringe”.

But the Times editorialists took their knives out in dissecting Rudy Guiliani’s tenure.

They wrote that the real Guiliani is a ‘narrow, obsessively secretive, vindictive man who saw no need to limit police power. Racial polarization was as much a legacy of his tenure as the rebirth of Times Square.”

The editorial goes on to say that , “Mr. Guiliani’s arrogance and bad judgement are breathtaking”.

Kevin Keating is a documentary filmmaker who’s 2006 film, “Guiliani Time” depicts an out of control Police Department, and other excesses of his tenure. In the first of a 2 part interview, Keating tells WMNF why he made this film (roll tape#1 o.q.”as both pro and con”)
