Much of the media has portrayed the U.S. Senate race as a three-way contest between Crist, Rubio, and Democrat Kendrick Meek. But it’s more complex than that: neither Rubio nor Meek have made it to the general election yet. And there will be many more than three names to choose from in November.

The deadline to qualify for the ballot was noon Friday. According to the Florida Division of Elections website, Rubio will face three other Republicans in the August primary. Meek will be opposed by four other Democrats. The winners of those two primaries will face not only Crist, but five other candidates without party affiliation, plus seven write-ins, a Libertarian and a Constitution Party candidate.

That was Jeff Greene, who is running in Democratic primary for U.S. Senate. The primary election is in August and the general election is in November. Tune in tomorrow when we hear from Greene about his thoughts on the primary and general election races.
