Facing protests Crist will not say whether he will veto ultrasound bill
Protesters will gather Thursday in Sarasota and St. Petersburg to ask Gov. Charlie Crist to veto a controversial abortion bill passed by the state Legislature. It requires women seeking an abortion to first view an ultrasound of their fetus, and restricts private health insurance from offering abortion coverage.
On Wednesday, WMNF asked Crist whether he would veto or sign the controversial bill.
Well, listen, I'm focused on that legislation as well. I've stated publicly before, it gives me some concern. I don't have the bill on my desk, so it's not available to me as yet. But once it gets there, I'll study it very closely and try to do what I think is right.
The rallies for a veto of HB 1143 will be in St. Petersburg from 10:30 in the morning until 11:30 in front of Cristâs residence at One Beach Drive.
In Sarasota, they will meet at 4:30 in the afternoon on the Bayfront: U.S. 41 between Gulfstream and Ringling.comments powered by Disqus
