Islamophobia: The Network Behind The New McCarthyism?
Good afternoon, welcome to Radioactivity. I'm Rob Lorei. On the first part of today's program we'll have open phones. In the second part of today's program an interview with journalist Max Blumenthal about what may be this era's New McCarthyism.
Recently AHA reported:
"Incoming House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Rep. Peter King (R-NY) says he will launch investigations into radical Islam as part of his mandate to "protect our homeland from the terrorists who continue to plot and execute attacks against our nation.
"Working with the incoming Republican House majority, King plans to stop the Obama administration's plans to transfer terror detainees from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to the United States, for trial in civilian courts.
"King also plans to hold hearings on the attack at Fort Hood, carried out by an Islamic member of the U.S. Army.
"However, King has made headlines with his plans to hold hearings on Islam, in an effort to "identify and combat domestic radicalization.
"Unfortunately, the leadership in the Muslim community, for whatever reason, does not want to cooperate, does not want to, even in many cases, denounce, the terrible attacks that have taken place," King told WPIX-TV in New York."
We're joined now by Max Blumenthal who's written a new piece for TomDispatch.com entitled: "The Great Islamophobic Crusade, Inside the Bizarre Cabal of Secretive Donors, Demagogic Bloggers, Pseudo-Scholars, European Neo-Fascists, Violent Israeli Settlers, and Republican Presidential Hopefuls Behind the Crusade."comments powered by Disqus
