From A Woman's Point of View | Listen to this entire show:

Nancy Tong is the director of the film "Trailblazers in Habits" which is a documentary about some of the first missionary sisters to go to China. Six Maryknoll nuns, with no prior missionary experience and unfamiliar with the culture, go to China in 1921. The film follows their path through the years of turmoil, chaos and revolution. The film also follows the involvement of the Maryknolls in America both as teachers and counselors at the Japanese/American internment camps during World War 11 and their involvement in the fight for justice and equality in hospitals and schools in the South before the Civil Rights Act was passed. Different Sisters are followed in South America where some are brutally murdered and tortured. A remarkable history of women and change. Trailblazers is part of the Through Women's Eyes film festival which is part of the Sarasota Film festival and will be screened on Saturday April 6 at 10 am and on Monday April 8 at 1pm..All screenings will be at the Regal Hollywood 20 in Sarasota.
