Rush Limbaugh's Criticism of the Georgetown Law School Student
Good morning, welcome to radioactivity. I'm Rob Lorei. Coming up today we'll talk about the controversy over birth control. Yesterday there was a vote to limit access to contraception in the US Senate. Also yesterday radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh made some controversial remarks regarding a woman who recently testified to Congress on the need for contraception coverage in health care reform Raw Story reports:" Limbaugh on Wednesday called Georgetown University law student Sandra Fluke a âprostituteâ and a âslutâ because of her testimony in Congress about contraception.
Fluke explained that her friend, a lesbian, could not afford the oral contraception she needed to prevent ovarian cysts from forming because her university refused to pay for them on religious grounds.
âAfter months of paying over $100 out-of pocket, she just couldnât afford her medication anymore, and she had to stop taking it,â Fluke testified. âWithout her taking the birth control, a massive cyst the size of a tennis ball had grown on her ovary. She had to have surgery to remove her entire ovary as a result.â
But on his show, Limbaugh accused Fluke of not being able to afford contraception because she was âhaving so much sex.â Then on Thursday, he demanded that women post sex tapes online if they use insurance-covered birth control." FMI Sandra Fluke attacked by Rush Limbaughcomments powered by Disqus
