Radioactivity: Live Call-In (Friday)

Good morning, welcome to Radioactivity. Thomas Frank, the author of the groundbreaking book WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH KANSAS has a new book out called PITY THE BILLIONAIRE (Metropolitan). It looks at the re-emergence of the conservative movement during the Great Recession.

But first one listener comment about something he witnessed in downtown Tampa—where once stood an Occupy protest…

Thomas Frank wrote the best selling book What’s the Matter with Kansas — to answer the question- why did the state of Kansas which had a proud populist and liberal tradition in the 1900’s, turn decisively conservative in the latter part of the century.

In his new book he charts the conservative movement’s rise—even though the Great Recession caused by the big banks, speculation on Wall Street, and the shady trading of worthless mortgages—might have been a reason for the public to lose faith in so-called free enterprise.
