US Supreme Court hears key campaign finance case: McCutcheon vs FEC
Despite the partial federal government shutdown, the U.S. Supreme Court is in session.
Tuesday they’re hearing what could become a landmark campaign finance case known as McCutcheon vs. FEC. It’s a challenge to limits on contributions by the biggest individual donors to political campaigns. Supporters of campaign finance laws say the case poses a threat to the contribution limits that Congress first enacted in 1974, in the wake of Watergate abuses.
