Florida Governor Rick Scott is attending a fundraiser Tuesday evening in Tampa; and outside, protesters will be handing out hand sanitizers they say will help keep peoples hands free of dirty politics.

WMNF interviewed Ana Tinsly, a spokesperson for Florida for All, one of the groups organizing what they’re calling the “#ShadyRick Hand Sanitizers” protest.

The protest begins at 5:30 p.m. at The Oxford Exchange, 420 West Kennedy Boulevard.

The message from St. Petersburg activists to state lawmakers Friday is: accept Medicaid expansion or get voted out of office. During a soggy rally in front of Republican Representative Kathleen Peters’ office Friday, a group of about 25 protesters dressed up as things like the Grimm Reaper and wore cardboard coffins over their clothes.

They showed up despite heavy rain to highlight figures from a study that show six people in Florida die every day because of a lack of health care options. ...

Former Governor Charlie Crist is causing a stir with comments Friday morning on MSNBC. He criticized Governor Rick Scott and the Republican-led Florida Legislature for not accepting funds for Medicaid expansion under the federal Affordable Care Act. He cited information from a labor union saying six people died in the state each day because they lacked the expanded health coverage.

Florida received a B-rating for nursing home care in the state, but one chain isn’t doing quite so hot. Consulate Health Care is the largest provider in the state of Florida. This morning one of the biggest public employee unions in Florida endorsed Miami area Congressman Kendrick Meek in the Senate race in 2010.

The endorsement by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) is an early and strong boost for the Democrat. Currently, only Miami Beach Sen. Dan Gelber and North Miami Mayor Kevin Burns have announced their candidacies, though there could be several more announcing in the coming months.
