In the crowded race for mayor of St. Petersburg, two potential frontrunners picked up endorsements this week.

Yesterday former City Council member Bill Foster announced that he received the endorsement of the Sun Coast Police Benevolent Association. In a letter, Sun Coast PBA President Mark Marland said, “Bill Foster has the experience, leadership and motivation to lead St. Petersburg in a bright and prosperous direction.”

St. Petersburg House Democrat Rick Kriseman announced today that he will not run for mayor in St. Pete this year.

The state representative made the announcement on his website. Kriseman was recently re-elected to the State House. Previously, he served on the St. Petersburg City Council for six years. He said he thought long and hard about whether he should enter the race.
