Phosphate mining lawsuits bill

If passed, House Bill 585 and Senate 832 would require documentation of a property’s radiation levels in civil lawsuits.

A push for an insurance constitutional amendment

10TampaBay reports, the Florida Constitutional Amendment Network is pushing to add property insurance protections to 2026 ballot. This protects policyholders seeing all insurance policies, home to auto, canceled or raised.

Tampa Hillsborough Homeless Initiative conducts its annual count

The annual count is required by law and has likely gone up due to inflation and the high housing costs in the Bay. Hundreds of volunteers will locate and count individuals and families experiencing homelessness.

Polk County drops in ranking of child welfare

Polk County has been ranked 57th place among 67 counties in Florida for child welfare. The Index looks into data from Kids Count, a survey from the Annie E. Casey Foundation. St. Johns County ranked first following Santa Rosa County.
