Tuesday, June 17th | 8:00 PM | WMNF Live Music Studio
Reception begins at 7:00 PM
Juneteenth stands as the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. Born in Galveston, Texas in 1865, the observance of June 19th as African American Emancipation Day has grown from local celebration to national recognition, spreading across the United States and beyond.
This year, WMNF honors Juneteenth with comprehensive all-day programming and a special panel discussion that dares to ask the essential question:
What does freedom look like in America today?
Join us for an evening of meaningful dialogue as a distinguished and diverse panel of guests examines the current state of freedom in our nation. Through thoughtful conversation and community engagement, we’ll explore how far we’ve come since that pivotal day in 1865 and what work remains ahead.
