About WMNF

WMNF is volunteer-powered, listener-supported, commercial-free radio.

We are WMNF. Mission-driven. Volunteer-powered. Listener-supported. We’re an independent platform committed to activating a connected, compassionate and informed community.

We’re music lovers who are culture seekers.

News junkies who are independent thinkers.

We play the music that influences culture.

We lead conversations that inform and empower.

We enrich the community that we call our home.

And most importantly, we welcome anyone who wants to join in.

WMNF.
Where music, news, and culture collide.

WMNF first went on the air in September, 1979 thanks to the hard work of a small group of dedicated volunteers who went door-to-door raising money for Florida’s first community radio station.

The call letters stand for: Member-sponsored Non-commercial FM.

Radio with a mission

WMNF provides broadcasts and other forums with a grassroots local emphasis that promote creative, musical and political vitality.

Radio with values

WMNF advocates for peace, social and environmental justice through independent media and programming neglected by the mainstream. We embrace diversity, tolerance of others’ opinions, and freedom of expression. WMNF celebrates and promotes the creative, cultural and political vitality of the local community.
