Nightline Co-anchor Byron Pitts talks race and the media, and we discuss the Republican letter to Iran

With the most recent flair of civil unrest in Ferguson, Missouri, Race continues to be the topic of national conversation. We speak with Nightline Co-anchor Byron Pitts on the media’s coverage of race-related issues. Pitts will be speaking on the topic on Friday at the Poynter institute at 7:30 pm. He had a brief stint in Tampa as a reporter for WFLA-TV in the late 80’s.He later worked for CBS for 15 years, becoming the lead correspondent for CBS following his coverage of the 9/11 attacks before moving to ABC.

We then talk about the letter sent by 47 State Senators to the Iranian Government discouraging them from entering an agreement with the Obama Administration regarding its nuclear program. The letter was heavily criticized by the administration and fellow lawmakers.joining us to discuss the letter is Trita Parsi,the founder and current president of the National Iranian American Council. Parsi is author of the book Treacherous Alliance and A Single Roll of the Dice.
