Banned Book Week takes place the week of October 1st – 7th at Shuffle: The Heights.
On Tuesday, October 3rd, Shelley Reback, host of WMNF’s MidPoint Wednesday (airs 10am – 11am) will host a banned book event from 7pm to 8pm with Florida Freedom to Read Project and Families for Strong Public Schools, two local non-profit, anti-censorship organizations
Guests may stay on for The REMIX, an open mic hip hop and spoken word program from 8 to midnight presented by Shuffle.
THE REMIX: A Shuffle Open Mic (hip hop & spoken word) will take place from 8pm – midnight. Sign up by 7:00 pm to perform your original music or spoken word (censorship/book banning theme encouraged).
The event organizers are currently looking for community volunteers who would like to present on topics concerning banned books and censorship.
