WMNF recognizes Juneteenth on Monday, June 19th with special on-air programming and Donald L. Dowridge, Jr. giving two performances as Frederick Douglass in WMNF’s Live Music Studio.
The first presentation is to be 6:00-6:20pm and second presentation 7:00-7:20pm, with photo opportunities available, following each performance.
There is a $10 donation price requested per seat at each show time, with limited capacity – Please choose the correct show and purchase below. The community is welcome to participate in an open house and potluck from 5pm until 9pm, as well as join festivities in the evening, including tours of the station facility and the above mentioned special historical performance.
Donald L. Dowridge, Jr is an expert on the life and history of Frederick Douglass. His one-man show on the famous abolitionist spotlights Doulgass’ triumphant life after slavery took a tremendous toll on his mental health. “Even when Frederick Douglass became prominent, he still struggled with past traumas and obstacles. He wrote speeches with a rebellious mind and burning heart until the day he passed away.
