Gringo Star, plus Fay Roy plus The Jackettes

Share

Gringo Star‘s musical explorations take them to far edges of rock & roll.  Their sounds include echo-slathered, doo-wop inflected indie gems:  psychedelic garage bangers, gritty R&B shuffles and spaghetti-western weirdness.  They take their cues from Santo & Johnny, The Stooges, Richie Valens Marc Bolan and Sam Cooke…….

FayRoy, hailing from Indian Rocks Beach,  is led by Kyle Fournier and Zachary Hoag.  They are emerging as one of Florida’s best indie groups.   With “various shifting landscapes, FayRoy’s songs take in folk, psych and surf-rock influences and mix them all together to create a sound that intrigues and delights and projects images of the great outdoors in all of its primal beauty.” -GoldFlakePaint

The Jackettes  –  The project helmed by singer-songwriter Jackson Davis is under the radar as a relatively new band that plays sparingly but with much acclaim.  Davis and Evan Eubanks have been playing together since the late Happiness Machine, and the latter’s brother, Dallas, fell naturally into the fold. Currently, Phil Oliver (formerly of Oliver and Co.) rounds out The Jackettes.  The quartet’s recent full-length, 2015’s And Then He Found His Flubber Soul, is R&B-soulful rock with heavy ’70s AM roots rock and ’60s psychedelic qualities, driven by keyboards that groove and swing between lushly soulful organ tones and more rollicking and rolling piano melodies, and Davis hitting falsetto notes that’d make Prince proud, as well as dipping into deeper tenors.
