WMNF Celebrates Homegrown Heroes: An Afternoon of Art, Activism and Accolades
In keeping with the one-of-a-kind Tampa Bay theme, we’ll also be celebrating our community’s homegrown music, art, and culture with live entertainment and a silent auction featuring unique items you won’t find anywhere else.
The Homegrown Heroes Celebration honors the work of the groups and organizations Tampa Bay Watch, The League of Women Voters (North Pinellas County), Clothes for Kids, St. Pete Earth Day, Florida Wildlife Corridor, PARC, Blanket Tampa Bay, and The Peace Café at Peace Memorial Church.
The individuals Safiyyah Ameer; Cole Foust [Metro Wellness]; Brook Shapiro, Macie Lavender, and Macy McClintock [March For Our Lives Tampa]; Peter Radizeski; Carrie Boucher [Nomad Art Bus]; Olga Bof [Keep St. Petersburg Local]; Amber DiPetria; Reverend Andy Oliver [Allendale United Methodist Church]; and Peter Belmont will be honored for their activism in areas including gun control, equality, racial justice, the environment, and more.
We also honor the STANO Foundation, Gulfcoast Legal Services, Girls Rock Camp St. Pete, Limbo Chihuahuas, SELF: Solar and Energy Loan Fund, Sheena Lofton, Code for Tampa Bay Brigade, Sunshine Citizens, Foundation for Community Driven Innovation, Gobioff Foundation, Pasco Pride Inc., Bob Gilbertson/Central City YMCA, Meals on Wheels, BetteJo Indelicato/ Florida Peace Action Network, Jerri Garcia of Starlight Angels Ministries, Inc., Ashley T Brundage, Jenn Frances/Bess the Book Bus, Mike Sutton, Cecelia Mitchell-Hands of Hope, Dezeray Lyn, Remus Bulmer, Christopher Brown, Ted Koran, William Carey, Jeremy Gloff, Peter Anderson – Giving Hunger the Blues, Diane Dill Pet Adoption, Rachael Sibilia, Vickie Dunn, and Anna Maria Island Turtle Watch – Suzi Fox director.
Our Homegrown Heroes nominations have been closed, but please listen to us on air as we tell you about some of the remarkable heroes in our own community who got nominated. The Hero Sponsorship table sales have also ended, as they sold out. The proposed schedule is 2pm – 3:30pm = Mingle, music & food/3:30pm – 4:15pm = Presentations/4:15pm – 6pm = More music & auction check out (subject to revision).
