On any given day in the world, some 14 million people are refugees around the world- fleeing from wars, ethnic tension, natural disasters, political repression and severe economic conditions. Tomorrow in Tampa and around the world non-governmental organizations will mark World Refugee Day. Today on Radioactivity Rob Lorei speaks to two people who are involved in the local event.
Greg Musselman, Community Outreach Coordinator Refugee Resettlement Program discusses refugee resettlement in Florida and the celebration of World Refugee Day in Tampa Bay on 6/12. And Mohammed Dullow, a Somali refugee, talks about the circumstances that caused his family to become refugees, life in the refugee camp and how his family is adjusting to life in the U.S.

On June 12, Tampa Bay will join the international community in honoring the resilience, courage and determination of refugees all over the world as part of World Refugee Day. To celebrate the refugee journey to the United States, the Tampa Bay Area Refugee Task Force is hosting a free cultural festival on Thursday, June 12(4:30 PM to 7:30 PM) at Jefferson High School in Tampa
(4401 West Cypress Street, Tampa, FL). The annual World Refugee Day event celebrates the cultural diversity refugees bring to our area. In 2013, more than 2,500 refugees were resettled to the Tampa Bay area.
