St. Petersburg earns top score on an index of LGBT equality

St. Petersburg has earned the highest score in a rating of human rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender residents.

St. Pete scored a 100 in the Human Rights Campaign’s Municipal Equality Index.

Mayor Rick Kriseman acknowledged the city’s LGBTQ liaison, Robert Danielson, as he announced the rating Wednesday morning on the steps of City Hall.

Tampa scored a 97. Orlando and Wilton Manors were the two other Florida cities earning the top score.
