Senator Tom Lee says no budget deal reached for special session

Share

Today we listen to Friday’s episode of Florida This Week, where several influential policymakers discuss the budget impasse in the state legislature that will lead to a special budget session that will begin in June. The two chambers have been unable to agree on medicaid expansion to cover over 800000 of Florida’s working poor. Gov. Rick Scott filed a lawsuit last week against the federal Department of health and human services, allegedly health officials are threatening to pull funding to cover low-income individuals in emergency rooms if medicaid expansion is not passed. Several key legislators in the debate join this week’s panel: State Senator Tom Lee who is the senate appropriations committee chair, State Rep Edwin Narain of the House Government operations committee, Rep. Darryl Rouson of the house justice appropriations committee and Senator Jeff Brandis, chair of the Senate transportation committee.
