United Church of Christ national meeting votes to divest from Israeli settlements

Another major Christian church denomination has voted to divest from companies doing business in Israeli-occupied Palestine; during a national meeting Tuesday in Cleveland the United Church of Christ overwhelmingly supported divestment. One of the UCC delegates is from Tampa — Reverend Bernice Powell-Jackson is Pastor of First United Church of Tampa.

Tuesday’s UCC divestment decision is wider than one last year by another denomination: the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) voted to sell stock in some companies doing business in Israeli-occupied territories.
