In a priority of President Kathleen Passidomo, R-Naples, the Florida Senate is poised to move quickly to pass bills aimed at “deregulation” of public schools.

The Senate will take up the bills (SB 7000, SB 7002 and SB 7004) during a floor session Wednesday, the second day of the legislative session.

The bills deal with what Passidomo described as cutting “red tape” on issues such as testing and accountability, financial requirements and personnel decisions.

Meanwhile, the House Education Quality Subcommittee is scheduled Wednesday to take up a House school-deregulation bill (PCB EQS 24-01).
