Bay Area Urban Farmers on the Sustainable Living Program

Share

On Monday’s Sustainable Living Program, Will Carey with Tampa Bay Harvest; Jim Kovaleski, the Bay Area’s premier urban farmer, and Debbie Butts, a local fresh market farmer joined the Gardening Program.

Will talked about Tampa Bay Harvest, which helps feed those in need, and the Sustainable Living Project located across from Lowry Park in Tampa. Will is certainly a community asset!

For the past few years Jim Kovaleski has been producing a lot of vegetables on an urban lot in New Port Richey on basically just compost. It’s truly amazing to see his produce at the Sweetwater Farm CSA Market and at the New Port Richey Tuesday market.

Debbie talked about varieties of vegetables we grow this time of year and where to get the seeds. The question is do we get our vegetables from China through Whole Foods or from Will, Jim, Debbie and other local organic growers?
