Time flies when you’re having fun!
Which explains why 2015 feels like it just started, and, yet, it’s already over.
Around WMNF, we have had a blast this past year and cannot wait to see what 2016 will bring. And I just want to make sure you’re all going to be along for the ride.
And I want to ask you in 2016 to make a pact with me to spread the word about 88.5 Community Conscious radio to everyone you meet, young and old, Tampa Bay natives or new to town.
2016 is going to be the year we make sure all of Tampa Bay knows about the incredible cultural resource that is 88.5 Community Conscious Radio!
You already know we’ve got something for everybody. There’s news you just cannot hear anywhere else… most of it hosted by people who actually live here and want to give voice to all sides of an issue and let you make up your own mind about it.
And our big national news show is “Democracy Now” –featuring ordinary people from around the world, grassroots leaders and peace activists, artists, academics and independent analysts who give you a street level view of the issues of the day.
And there’s the music – so much music! From classic rock to classic Americana to new rock to new Americana to folk and bluegrass and blues and jazz and everything in between.
And, WMNF’s shows are all hand-crafted by real people in Tampa Bay – people who volunteer their time to bring you radio that is unique to Tampa Bay and, frankly, the whole country.
In 2016, we’re going to help spread the word about WMNF with a brand spanking new phone app – for both iPhones and Android!
We’re looking to bring the WMNF phone app online by spring so everybody can have WMNF with them on their smart phone.
So when you’re spreading the word about radio that is hand made by real people, you’ll soon get to tell them – there’s an app for that!
Even more good news
We’re also going to be putting up a new tower at WMNF headquarters that will make sure nothing can get in between you and the signal the brings you WMNF.
You helped provide the seed money for this big project and the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioner’s has kicked in the rest of the money to build this new tower, which microwaves or signal to our transmitter in Riverview. That’s how important they think WMNF is to Tampa!
We’ve also got the 35th annual Heatwave coming up in April. In a world of festivals, Heatwave is the original and we’re looking to see everybody there for the big 35th birthday party!
And there’s lots more on tap. So stay tuned. Turn up the volume. And spread the word!
