Hot Box Music for this October Week

Share

WMNF has a hot box – literally a box full of cds chosen by the music department – for the djs on our three strips (Morning Show, It’s the Music, & Traffic Jam) to use to help their audiences get familiar with some new artists or new releases. It has just a small selection of the hundreds of new releases that come in, but this is music that is really good, really interesting, really catchy, or really something. Plus Flea picks out some hot little numbers aka singles that should get a lot of airplay as well.

Here is some of the new stuff!

Have to start off with What it Means by the Drive By Truckers

Lady Wray just has one video out, which we’ve already featured on our Song of the Day page.  Here is another to hear. This is such a nice song, it will leave you smiling.

Randy Wind says this about Goat and their new release, Requiem: A Swedish band with a carefully cultivated mystique, playing live shows in masks and costumes and music that is pan-cultural and psychedelic.

Howabout some Michael Franti to make you feel better?
