Over the weekend, visitors to Treasure Island saw 150 tons of sand transformed into massive sand sculptures.

Among the ten professionals from all over the world who competed for the Sanding Ovations Masters Cup last weekend was Rusty Croft from Carmel, California. Centennial Middle School in Pasco County is getting a solar array system that will provide energy for the school. The solar array being installed by Tampa Electric and the Florida Solar Energy Center will provide educational opportunities for the students as well.

Yesterday marked the two month anniversary of the Occupy movement. It was observed with calls to action from around the country. Locally, Occupy Tampa protestors joined with members of organized labor for a march to the Platt Street Bridge, which is closed for renovation. They are demanding that Congress pass the Obama administration's jobs bill and start pumping more federal dollars into infrastructure repair which would also create jobs for the millions of unemployed Americans.
