On MidPoint, we heard from a woman who has been pressuring Florida House Speaker Richard Corcoran to take a stance on a fracking ban; we also talked about what’s at stake in upcoming government meetings on transportation, including Tampa Bay Next.

Nathalia Assaad is a volunteer with Food & Water Watch. She grew up in Venezuela where her father worked in the oil and gas industry. Recently she’s been speaking with Florida House Speaker Richard Corcoran trying to get him to take a stance on a statewide ban on fracking.

Our second guest, Rick Fernandez is president of the Tampa Heights Civic Association. The Hillsborough MPO Board meets Tuesday morning. They’ll hear status reports including updates on Tampa Bay Next from FDOT, the HART Transit Development Plan and an idea called Highways to Boulevards from USF’s Joshua Frank.

At the beginning of the show we played a short presentation given by the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections, Craig Latimer, at a County Commission meeting about election hacking attempts.
