First on Radioactivity, we listen back to the latest episode of Florida This Week, a political talk show on local PBS station WEDU that is hosted by Rob Lorei. This week’s panel of political insiders and experts discuss the Rubio/Bush feud, lead in the water at Sawgrass Lake Park, the highs and lows of the legislative session so far, and whether the state should give more tax money to charter schools.

Then we joined by 3 USF graduate assistants Megan Flocken, Keegan Shepherd and Rachel Tyree, who are demanding higher wages as part of the school’s graduate assistants union. Graduate assistants make up a significant part of USF’s research and instructional workforce; they are often responsible for teaching classes and contributing research on top of handling their own coursework. Yet, they only make about $10,000 during the school year and are contractually prevented from taking outside work.
