My top 14 CD’s of the year, in playlist order, but not order of favorites, plus a number of honorable mentions:

1) Larkin Poe – Larkin Poe

2) First Aid Kit – Stay Gold

3) Drew Nelson – The Other Side

4)Raul Midon – Don’t Hesitate;

5) Monica Heldal – Boy From the North;

6) Rose’s Pawn Shop – Gravity Well;

7) Irene Kelley – Pennsylvania Coal;

8) The Loudermilks – The Loudermilks;

9) David Wilcox – Blaze;

10) Malcolm Holcombe – Pitiful Blues;

11) Carrie Newcomer – A Permeable Life;

12) Catherine MacLellan – The Raven’s Sun;

13) Johnny Marr – Playland;

14) Rosanne Cash – The River and the Thread – Rosanne’s CD was my clear favorite for the year – the rest are all outstanding.

Other outstanding CD’s that I really liked of mostly original material, released during 2014. Wished I would have heard the new ones by Amelia Curran and Lori McKenna. Bet they would have made one of these lists too….
