Pope Benedict has invited ambassadors from Muslim nations to meet with him on Monday, in order to calm anger over the use of a medieval text saying their religion was spread by violence.

According to the Italian news agency ANSA, to pontiff has invited the ambassadors and members of the Italian Islam Consulta to his summer residence.

Hillsborough County Commissioners make historic tax cut by Mitch E. Perry

Last night in Tampa, The Hillsborough County Commission passed a historic property tax cut – the 2nd time in a week and a half that they reacted to public pressure to reduce the millage rate.

Officially, the millage reduction of .5816 is expected to deliver about $60 of tax relief per $100,000 of taxable property value.

The rage from angry citizens at rising property tax increases is something every local government body in Florida has contended with in recent weeks.<...

Wal-Mart , facing pressure from critics who call its employee health care coverage inadequate, plans to begin selling nearly 300 generic prescription drugs for a sharply reduced price of $4 for a month's supply.

The world's biggest retailer said today from Tampa that it will test the program in 65 stores in the Tampa Bay Area. Officials say it will include 291 generic drugs available for conditions from allergies to high-blood pressure. The plan is available to its employ...

Jay Alexander, a member of Veterans for Peace, discussed the protest today outside of a campaign fundraiser at the Community Investment Tax Stadium where President Bush was speaking. Alexander said that about a 100 people had gathered with signs outside the event. The demonstrator's signs called for peace and an end to the war in Iraq.
