How about bringing in The Randall Bramblett Band from Athens (http://www.randallbramblett.com/index.php) and the Peter Himmelman Band (http://www.peterhimmelman.com/home.html) Check out Himmelman's weekly streaming show called The Furious World. Both these bands are fantastic! And a great up-and-coming Florida band, 3rd Stone from here in Gainesville. Can't wait . . . Charlie

Thomas Wynn and the Believers opened for Gov't Mule Jan. 21st at the Ritz. This is an excellent, up-and-coming Orlando-based band with solid songs and outstanding vocals. CDBaby has a great REAX review that notes that this is a true FLORIDA band in every sense of the word.

Last summer I saw the band Dangermuffin live and they are a great Americana/roots rock band from Charleston SC. I think they would fit in well with the WMNF lineup. http://www.dangermuffinmusic.com/

kLob is a great band out of Jacksonville - they opened for Mofro during their last 3-nite New Year's run up there. www.klobsong.com Also I totally agree on Thomas Wynn and the Believers. Take a look at Shak Nasti, too! And bring back NERVOUS TURKEY!!!!

Check out Hillbilly Casino. These guys are great and would be a great match for a show like this. http://www.thehillbillycasino.com/

Going to heat wave is just like a box of chocolate - you never know what you're going to get. With more venues, the box is bigger. I've always found something I wasn't looking for but came away loving. Can't wait.
some americana bands

Catherine about 3 months ago
I would like to see a few more americana bands like maybe Hayes Carll, Kelly Willis, Micky & the Motorcars, Mike McClure Band, Band of Heathens, Bart Crow Band and the Trishas. Love Jonathan Tyler & the Northern Lights. It was great seeing Thomas Wynn & the Believers at Heatwave last year, love them. A few more recommendations William Elliot Whitmore, Dan Dyer, Seth James, Mike Zito, Carolyn Wonderland, Roman Candle, Rocco Deluca, Red Cortez, Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit and Will Hoge.

Modern Skirts http://www.modernskirts.com/epk/ and The Shackeltons http://www.theshackeltons.com/main/ I know I would kill to see either of these bands come back this year! They both put on excellent shows! I have been a devoted fan of both of those bands that heatwave helped me discover. Please consider!
Shackeltons!

I have to agree with Alise, do bring back the Shackeltons. Their performance two years ago was the best I've seen at heatwave yet!

Singing in both English and Spanish, this is a local band that epitomizes both Tampa's rich cultural heritage and WMNF's eclectic, diverse musical styles. Plus they're just really talented! They have won local accolades and have been on the 'MNF live music shows, so they would be a great addition to the lineup.
I concur...

I see that Grant Peeples has been added to the lineup which is great -- maybe he could bring Frank Lindamood down with him from up there in Sopchoppy?? That would be great! And, to echo.. Shackeltons!

I also was excited to see Raul Malo at Tropical Heatwave this year. I saw his name on the list earlier, but don't see it now. I heard him in PA last year and was really hoping to catch him at the Heatwave.

Unfortunately Bob Schneider's management delayed his tour so he cannot make the Heatwave - to our sadness and dismay. Luckily we were able to get Alejandro Escovedo to take that spot in the lineup. Be sure to check out all the bands, even those you don't yet know - because Heatwave is a place to to discover new favorites.
Yes, Where's Raul?

I also heard Raul Malo was going to be at HeatWave...did he have to back out due to a scheduling conflict? C'mon Raul, we want to see you there (and with the Mavericks-what a kick that'd be!!)
Volume sanity?
Cancel
Will Flanery about about 1 month ago
In the last several years, the volume in most of the venues (especially the ballroom in the Cuban Club) has been far beyond "too loud" and could only be described as insanely, freaking, what-the-hell-are-you-thinking, inexcusably loud. And I don't want to hear any more excuses about the band's stage amps; they have volume knobs too! Please be mindful of your audience and keep the volume down to "very loud". Thanks.
Rock n Roll Hula

Check out the band HAPA two guys playing hot rockin electric (12 string) guitar plus acoustic - with a Hawaiian chanter and hula dancer. A definate winner for Heatwave - a fantastic show with rave reviews by Rollin Stone. I'd be so thrilled if you'd bring them next year, as would many dancers in the area. What about Cherry Poppin' Daddies????
